Klein Curaçao is only accessible by boat. The crossing is therefore an important part of your day trip. You can choose from a catamaran, a smaller fast boat, or a larger motorboat, among others. The boats differ in travel time, seating space, shade, and facilities on the island.

Which boat suits you best depends on what you find important: a short crossing, the feeling of sailing, plenty of space on board, or a beach house on Klein Curaçao.

Roughly count on one to almost two hours for the outward journey. The actual travel time depends on the boat, the route, and the sea conditions. The outward and return journeys can therefore also feel different.

Check the expected departure and arrival times for your chosen trip. This way, you know approximately how much time you will spend on the island.

A catamaran is an attractive choice if you also want to enjoy the boat trip itself. You can sit outside along the way and, on some boats, take a seat in the nets at the front. Depending on the wind, part of the return journey can be made under sail.

Keep in mind that you can feel the movement of the sea on a catamaran. Ask the crew where it is best to sit if you are sensitive to this.

A smaller boat can offer a shorter crossing. As a result, you may have more time left on the island. The experience on board is different than on a large boat: there is usually less room to walk around and you can feel the movement of the sea more strongly.

When comparing, look beyond just the travel time. Also check how much shade and seating space there is and which facilities you can use on the island.

With a larger motorboat or a yacht, you often have more space on board. The Mermaid and Serendipity are examples of trips with a larger boat and their own beach house on the island. The boats, travel times, and content of the trips do differ from each other.

Do you want to use a sunbed, umbrella, toilet, or shower on Klein Curaçao? Then check per trip which facilities are included.

You check in at the departure point and step on board. The crew will provide you with information about the trip and the arrival at Klein Curaçao. Once on the island, you can, for example, swim, snorkel, walk, or relax on the beach.

Food, drinks, and snorkeling gear are included in many trips, but the exact itinerary differs. The way you go from the boat to the shore can also vary per provider. Follow the instructions of the crew for this.

Bring swimwear, a towel, and sun protection. A dry bag or waterproof case is handy for your phone and other belongings. If you are prone to seasickness, prepare yourself before departure and choose a spot on board in consultation with the crew.

To Klein Curaçao by catamaran
