What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service if you use it. The privacy policy page can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload images to the site, you should avoid uploading images containing EXIF GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download the images from the site and view the location data.

Contact forms

The personal contact details are recorded when the contact form is completed. This data is stored in our mailbox. The personal contact details will be kept for the provision of service. The saved contact details are not used for marketing purposes.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can indicate whether your name, e-mail address and site may be stored in a cookie. We do this for your convenience so that you do not have to re-enter this information for a new response. These cookies are valid for one year.

When you visit our login page, we store a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted as soon as you close your browser.

Once you log in, we will store some cookies in connection with your login information and screen display options. Login cookies are valid for 2 days and cookies for screen display options are valid for 1 year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will be saved for 2 weeks. As soon as you log out of your account, login cookies will be removed.

When you edit or publish a message, an additional cookie is stored by your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only contains the post ID of the article you have edited. This cookie expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

Messages on this site may contain embedded (embedded) content (for example, videos, images, messages, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly the same as if the visitor had visited this other site.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with this embedded content, including recording your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Security Logs

The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally recorded to monitor for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific types of attacks. Examples of login conditions include login attempts, logout requests, requests for suspicious URLs, site content changes, and password updates. This information is kept for 60 days.

Analytics

We try to make the experience you have with our website as good and optimal as possible. This is only possible if we know what our visitors are doing on the website. And thereby posting more of what is liked, and less of what is disliked.

Purpose: through Google Analytics we know how you came to the website and how you use the website. We use these statistics to continuously improve the website, so that you have the best possible experience on our website. This cookie comes from Google and is stored for a maximum of 26 months.

Who we share your data with

In order to make the information you requested accessible, we work together with third parties. Think of a website administrator, hosting party, automatic telephone connection, newsletter system and administration software. A so-called Processor Agreement has been concluded with all parties involved. This agreement guarantees, among other things, the security and the timely deletion of your personal data.

How long we keep your data

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of that comment will be saved forever. This way we can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of moderating them.

For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

Security logs are kept for 60 days.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal information we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal information we hold about you. This does not include data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

This site is scanned for potential malware and vulnerabilities by the iThemes Site scanner. We do not send any personal information to the scanner; however, the scanner may find personal information posted publicly (such as in comments) during the scan.
